Julia Turchaninov, PA-C, PhD

Julia Turchaninov graduated from Odessa Medical University in the Ukraine in 1998 with a Doctor of Medicine degree.  After finishing her residency, she began work on her PhD while working part time as an immunologist in the Odessa Clinical Hospital.  She also taught immunology and medical genetics to French-speaking international students at Odessa Medical University.  In 2004 she earned her PhD in Medicine for her scientific work on chronic abdominal inflammation.

In 2005 Julia was married and moved to the United States where she taught microbiology at Paradise Valley College in Phoenix, Arizona and worked part time in the Novakovic Family Practice.  In 2011 Julia enrolled in the Physician’s Assistant program at AT Still University in Mesa, Arizona.  During the program she was accepted by the Mayo Clinic for clinical rotation in surgery and hospital internal medicine.  In 2012 she graduated from AT Still with a Master’s Degree in PA studies and joined the Novakovic Family Practice full time.  Julia is board certified by the American Academy of Physician Assistant.

Julia has authored 15 articles in Ukranian and European medical journals and she holds three patents in the Ukraine.  She lives with her husband in Phoenix.  Her hobbies are reading, gardening, cooking and travel.
